Of all the great sins life has permitted,
the greatest crime I ever committed,
was the failure to love when it mattered most.
There is no punishment that can absolve,
no great moral convolution to resolve,
this, small depravity of which I boast?
Is there justice in my daily parole,
for the wound I put on an innocent soul,
